AOL 141: Five Reasons Lawyers Need Instagram

Okay people, this is going to be a very very short post for one reason: it is 1:00 a.m. and I forgot my notes from this podcast at the office. Instagram can help lawyers build your law firm brand. 3. Instagram can help lawyers get more clients. 4. Instagram can help lawyers increase awareness. 5. Instagram can help lawyers increase interaction. To get the full story, listen to the podcast. AOL 140: Using Instagram for Law Firms

Yesterday Instagram made a major change to their platform, and this change finally convinced me that it was time to start thinking about how Instagram for law firms can work. In this episode I talk about a very specific methodology for increasing your Instagram followers, building your brand, generating leads, and having a fun time throughout the process. Instagram for Law Firms Game Plan First things first, it’s important to remember what the point is of participating on a platform like Instagram. It’s the same point that you have for all of your marketing efforts: you want to get more clients. And that can happen with Instagram. You just have to do it right. Here’s the step-by-step process for using Instagram for law firms, including getting more followers, creating brand awareness, and generating leads. Step 1: Post at least 4-6 times per day. Step 2: Make the posts interesting and relevant to what you do (think quotes, advice, stories, action […]

AOL 131: Law Firm Website Design Choices

Today we are answering a question from the Law Firm Confidential Facebook group. The question, essentially, is: I have a law firm website. Should I make the home page feature a contact form submission or the two button structure that I’m seeing a lot of firms employ (like this estate planning law firm)? The answer is pretty simple and comes down to answering just one question. If you want to know the answer to making the correct website design choices, listen to the podcast. Cheers, Christopher Small P.S. – curious about what I do on a daily basis to create and build my successful law firm? Now you can find out first hand (and steal some of my secrets). Law Firm Internet Marketing: Google Making Big Changes to Adwords

Whether you know this or not, google adwords has been a significant factor in the success of my law firm. I used to be against Google Adwords. I used to think the service was only used by tire kickers and people who weren’t really interested in getting a lawyer. And then I took some to learn the system, including how to make an ad and an offer that convert, and boom, I was off to the races. Google Adwords Becoming More Important than SEO for Law Firm Internet Marketing When I started my firm in 2009, SEO was all the rage. I catapulted myself up the number one ranking for terms like “DUI lawyer,” “DUI attorney,” and things like that, and business was good. But then Google changed. Not only did they update their search algorithm, making it much harder to game the system, but they actually intentionally began making the search results less and less relevant to searchers. Here’s […]

AOL 104: 5 Reasons Law Firm SEO is Dead

Before I get going I want to say, emphatically, that you can still get business with law firm SEO. What is law firm SEO? Great question. This is the act of some potential client looking for something on google (say Kirkland estate planning attorney) and your site showing up at the top of the results. The person searching clicks on your site, and the rest is history. What I’m saying is, the old school thoughts behind SEO are dead. 5 Reasons Law Firm SEO is Dead As usual, I’ll give you the reasons. If you want to know more, listen to the podcast! First, you can’t game the system like you used to be able to. Second, Google doesn’t like SEO. Third, people don’t like it. They use other channels. Fourth, it’s too long of a game and happens naturally. Fifth, there are too many other easy ways to reach potential clients. Don’t agree? Leave a comment below and tell […]

AOL 103: Starting a Law Firm Coaching Session with Randy Floyd

This episode of The Art of Lawyering Podcast is truly like no other. And it was simply a moment of serendipity for Randy Floyd, my guest today. He emailed me a few days ago to tell me he was starting a law firm and was thinking about doing some of the same stuff I’d been doing. He wanted to chat a little bit about law firm marketing and other stuff. I, as usual, was excited to do that. But there was one small problem. I didn’t have a podcast guest this week. I figured, “why not kill two birds with one stone and record the coaching session?” I ran it by Randy and he was interested. The starting a law firm coaching session episode was born. Starting a Law Firm Challenges What’s great about business in general is that you can only have so many problems. Your problem is usually not unique. It has been experienced and conquered by people […]

AOL 101: Leveraging a Law Firm Podcast with Bentley Tolk

Today’s guest is a little different than most. He is not a small law firm owner. He is a shareholder in Parr Brown Gee & Loveless, a Salt Lake City law firm of nearly 70 lawyers. Though he is outside of the fold when it comes to his law firm size, he hits the bullseye when it comes to a passion for law firm marketing, in particular using the internet to spread the word about his services. Today’s guest has two podcasts, one about his practice area, the ERISA Litigation Podcast, and one about legal marketing, Legal Marketing Launch. It’s the one and only Bentley Tolk! Is a Law Firm Podcast Worth it? I think most people by now have heard about podcast and think a law firm podcast might be a benefit to their law firm. But many people are just unsure of how to use a podcast properly. On today’s show we talk about just that. Bentley goes […]
